The current release date
The most recent date Rockstar has announced is 19 November 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. No PC version has been announced. That matches how the studio handled GTA 5, where the PC release followed the console launch by well over a year.
The full timeline
December 2023: the announcement
Rockstar published the first trailer on 4 December 2023, a day earlier than planned after the video leaked. The trailer confirmed the setting, the two protagonists and a 2025 launch window. No month was given.
May 2025: the second trailer and the first delay
The second trailer arrived in May 2025 and moved the launch into 2026. Take-Two framed the extra time as polish rather than trouble, which is the standard line, but the studio has a long record of shipping late and shipping finished.
2026: the move to November
The launch settled on 19 November 2026. That places it in the middle of the holiday window, which is where Take-Two puts its biggest releases.
What is not confirmed
- A PC release date. Nothing official exists. Treat any specific PC date you see as invention.
- A Nintendo platform. Never announced, never hinted at officially.
- Preload timing, file size and regional unlock times. These usually appear a few weeks before launch.
How to tell real news from noise
- Check whether the claim traces back to Rockstar Newswire, a Take-Two earnings call, or a first-party store listing. Everything else is second hand.
