GTA 6 Fences and Money Laundering Explained
Turning stolen goods into real money in GTA 6 runs through fences and laundering services, each specialised by what you bring them.
Stealing something in GTA 6 is only half the job. According to a hands-on Rockstar North preview, turning loot into spendable money runs through a network of fences and laundering contacts, each with their own specialty.
How fences work
Fences buy stolen goods off you, and different fences handle different categories: drugs, jewellery and vehicles reportedly all go to separate contacts. One named vehicle fence, Randy, is described as keeping a running list of cars he wants, similar to an export list. Fences can also pass along useful information, including codes for store safes.
Money laundering
Separately from fences, a laundering service exists specifically to deal with marked or dirty cash, the kind that would otherwise be traceable. This is the loop that turns a big, risky haul into money that behaves normally once it is in your bank balance.
Why working with contacts matters over time
Doing jobs for a fence is reported to unlock further services from them later, not just a one time payout. A basic tracker removal, for example, does not automatically mean a fence can strip a high end tracker out of an expensive stolen car: that capability is something you build toward.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you run your own business in GTA 6 single player?
Reported as unlikely. A preview at Rockstar North suggested there are no ownable, run-it-yourself businesses in single player, though a money laundering service is available to use.
Do all fences buy anything you steal?
No. Fences are reported to specialise: separate contacts for drugs, jewellery and stolen vehicles rather than one universal buyer.
